Contentment

Let's talk about contentment. Take a look at my kitchen table. If I wasn't writing blog posts, I would probably be sewing baby bonnets or aprons, and how many of those do we really need? No more. Trust me, I have made enough for all of us! Sure, I could be working on schoolwork in all my free time, but come on now, that is just not realistic. There is something in me that has to create, and that creative part of us is there for a reason. That desire in us to do something we haven't done before does not mean we aren't content. It just means that we have a purpose we haven't fulfilled yet.

Exodus 9:16 "But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth." Contentment is not the opposite of greed. Contentment comes right along with us as we create and make and work hard, knowing that it is all for the glory of God. Pushing down all those desires in an attempt to be satisfied with what we already have is not the goal. Listening to yourself and what God is stirring up in you, your passions and hearts desires -- this is what God is doing to grow us, to be ready to fulfill our role here on earth.
